Putting an ISB 305 into a Hummer

Hello All,



I must be a glutton for punishment. I bought a "rolled" 2003 ram with an cummins ISB 305 motor, and am in the process of installing it into my '93 Hummer H1. The Dodge had no front end damage and the motor starts and runs fine. I tore the dodge apart, labeling everything and the old gm 6. 2 n/a comes out of my H1 this weekend. I'm planning on installing the complete dodge drivetrain and will have to have driveshafts and motor mounts made.



Is this a pretty good engine as far as Cummins go? What is the weakest link?(parts to carry) and what should I look out for? I notice that the ECM is mounted fairly low, and how water resistant is it.



I wheel my truck alot, and am upgrading the driveline to the heavy hummer 12K driveline components.

That is an excellent engine and it'll make a sweet conversion! Don't worry about the ECM, they water tight and I've never heard of a water related failure with them.

PLEASE keep us posted on this project! This will be a SWEET repower!





The only downside I can think of is the weight. I can't immagine that the GM diesel weighed NEAR what the CTD weighs.

a past member named hadi has done a couple conversions--if you could get a hold of him it may be helpful---I know he's from Texas and Mark Kendrick had seen one of the finished rigs, so he might be able to point you to Hadi also--it may be worthwhile to do a search under his user name and see what info you can garner also---have fun and good luck---chris

The Cummins should have been put in the Hummer from the get go.

My main concern would be drivetrain strength, half shafts etc. Especially with big tires and upping the hp of the Cummins.

Anybody know how to get ahold of user Hadi? I beleive that he is from Texas and has done a conversion of this sort.
