i have put on the top portion of the steering shaft. the steering wheel is straight. now the set screw on the bottom of the shaft does not line up with the flat on the box shaft? thanks for any help... . scott

Sounds to like you will have to set the front tires straight ahead, then pull the steering wheel and reinstall on a different position on the steering shaft so it mounts straight ahead. Not sure how easy that will be with an air bag installed. I would be careful around that. I am speculating so maybe someone here has done this from experience?

DO NOT re-index the steering wheel. The steering shaft has a master spline which will only allow the wheel to engage at one point. If it's off your problem is elsewhere. Also be very careful with the centering of the wheel and tires in respect to the clockspring. Get this wrong and you'll tear the clockspring, set and air bag light and lose your horn and cruise.

are you guys familiar with the spline at the steering box? the set screw does not line up with the flat spot. there is a smooth groove in between the 2 sets of splines. this seems to be where the set screw wants to go in, not on the flat portion on top of the grooved areas..... ?????

I had to line it up to the closest flat side to make it work. Then Straighten out the wheel with the adjustment Under the truck, not by removing the steering wheel.

where is the adjustment under the truck to straighten out the wheel? i just wished borgeson would of included some of this in their instructions. what a pos. i won't buy from them again... .....

they KNOW their set screw is 90degrees off. say nothing about it in the destructions. so, i will spend my money with flaming river next time.....

if you haven't put in a borgeson yet. have fun lining up that steering wheel!!

Shaft

 My 94 steering box shaft had a nub sticking out on the end that had to be cut off so the shaft would slide down far enough. Borgeson didnt bother identifying which end is which either. :D :p

i managed to get it lined up this am. the new shaft seems more sloppy.

note: the set screws seem rinky dink compared to the collar and bolt design of the oem.

the ends are self expanatory. one end fits on a splined shaft. the other does not.

i will not buy anything else from borgeson.

next time i will try pumping the old oem one full of grease.

thanks for the help.

scott.

Hey dude,

I changed my 98 in 30 mins no problems with the borgeson. I would suggest you let them know how unhappy you are.

By the way always after a few hundred Miles Check the tightness of the lock nuts as stated in the instructions Mine did allow me to give a few more twists.

If the Borgeson did not help your truck You must have other parts that are in need of attention.

Take care. :)
