Are the holes bigger in the pw injectors over the stock 92 intercooled injectors or are there just more holes? How much more power & boost will i pick up if i leave pump at existing settings?Present pump setting gives me 20# boost with stock injectors, and 16cm housing.

Well... ... ..... on my '93 with stock pump settings I was getting 16 psi of boost, I swapped the injectors to the PW's and my boost went up to 20-21psi, never smoked a drop before, now a black haze is visible until the boost comes up when you foor it.

I compared the holes by looking at them and if I remember right the PW's had one LESS hole than the stockers. I put them on the test bench at work and the stock ones opened at 3200 psi while the PW's opened at 3700 psi. (stockers had 100k on em)

Hope this helps. :)

The opening pressure is very close to original... they should have the same number of holes, the holes are larger, and if I recall correctly, the needle in the nozzle lifts farther.

There should be 5 holes, if memory serves, in both the stock and the PW injectors. And, to second the previous comments... if you run at purely stock pump settings, it will not smoke more than a mild haze ,and most of that can be cleared up with a 12 or 14 CM wastegated housing. Set your maximum boost to around 24 or so.

You will find that power will be increased, and egt's lowered a bit if you advance the timing from 1. 2-1. 25 to 1. 3-1. 5. They seem to run darn good at 1. 4

BD sells some injectors that must have cavernous holes in them, because tey REALLY give you an increase, but from what I can tell, they smoke... . and I hate smoke. I'm just enough of a perfectionist to be determine to outpull the PSD's with no smoke, and getting better milage, too. :)

I think the same way Mark! To me it kinda gives diesels a bad rap when you stomp on the throttle and a lot of smoke comes out. The smoke that my truck produces is just right, a slight hase at 20psi boost, stock 18 cm housing.

I could have swore there was one less hole in the nozzle, maybe I just cant count! :)

Hey Power Wagon... ... I want to adjust my pump for more power but not get to wild, can you just adjust the power screw at the rear for mild gains or do you need to take the AFC diaphram cap off and do those adjustments too?

Later.

Don't adjust your diaphragm... It really doesn't need it. The actual adjustment for the max fuel is the screw at the back of the pump. The diaphragm adjustment is just the compensation for boost (or lack of it). It keeps the fuel down before the turbo spins up enough to get boost to keep down the smoke and temperatures.

Of course, if the diaphragm is sticky or adjusted wrong, it will be difficult to achieve full power.

I wouild not, with the exception of the '89 and early '90 trucks, crank the fuel up any great amount. I would change injectors first.

The little VE pump is pretty badly strained, IMHO, and it doesn't need any more, if you want a long and healthy life.
