Reading Issue 40, "power Steering Fluid-The forgotten Oil Change", and patting myself on the back for having paid attention to this subject for many years, I suddenly stopped patting!

This article is 1st time ever heard -do not use ATF because of hydraulic brake booster system!!! Is this an absolute no-no?

I'm using a high quality synthetic ATF; its been in the system for 3-4 weeks and no problem? Am I in danger of fire, explosion, etc or am I OK?

Some dealers put ATF4 in for hissing and "drypark", mine has ATF4 in it and as soon as I can think about ordering some it will be changed to Royal Purple Synthetic PS fluid. I think you are OK with ATF4.

I have never run ATF in mine, I use Valvoline SynPower synthetic blend. Got it at Kmart for a good price. I use it because in the winter when its cold the power steering pump howls like a dog. Whith the syn stuff its quiet as a mouse.
