I Have A Autometer Sportcomp 2 Pyro And It Must Have Died Today Because It Has Power But It Don't Move Any More Stuck At 4000 Deg. Thought About Replacing It But What Are The Opinions On Other Brands Of Gauges? Which One To Buy Next? Any Thoughts Out There, Thanks.

Try replacing the probe. It should be about 75 dollars or so and cheaper and easier than changing a gauge. That is of course that you want to change gauges. If you do, Isspro and DiPricol are what I recommend.

The Gauge Use To Cycle When You Would Turn The Key On. When You Turn The Power Off The Pyro Wolud Stay At The Last Temp Reading, When It Was Powered Up It Would Drop Back To Zero. Now It Does Not Even Do That.

check all your wiring connections... had an autometer hang up on me one day... the next day it "healed itself" and has been working fine for another 7 months now

My autometer boost gauge will sometimes stick at 0psi, and I have to give it a 'technical tap' (eg... a WHACK) to get it working again...

have ya tried a technical tap?

I Have Checked All My Connections, She Gets 12. 43 Volts On Both Sides Of The Plug. I Did Give It The Good Old Love Tap But No Changes So On Word I Go. I Got A Message Into Autometer, The Offered Me A New Thermo Coupler But Since The Gauge Seems To Not Be Moving They Think The Gauge Is The Problem Waiting For There Reply, The Gauge Should Still Be Under Warranty So I Will See What The Out Come Is.

I had the same problem with my autometer pyro too. It quit working and was stuck at 600*. I pulled it out the next after getting a new and found that it had a short in one of the wires inside the back of the gauge. It's just easier to replace it and get a new one it moves fast enough to scare you:-laf

BD-Power had me buy a new thermocouple for my X-Monitor after my pyrometer had quit several months prior, often reading nothing but ----. The new probe worked for about 3 weeks. They said I'd have to send the whole system back in, out of warranty, and pay for them to figure out and fix the problem. I have intermittent readings, peaks at well over 1,800 degrees at WOT so I'm not sure how reliable these readings are. I've been to switch to mechanical gauges but it doesn't sound like they are a whole lot more reliable.

Just checking here... when you say you have 12V on both sides...

The power side should have 12V, but the ground side should have 0V. If not, you just found your problem.

Pyro headaches

First time mine acted up(dropped to zero or close to it) they replaced the guage,, $200+ This time I noticed that when I pull out slightly on the gauge ( puts a slight strain on the wires ) works perfectly for quite a while. The wire connections are good and tight. Internal ? Age on 2 units is 3 yrs combined (300K) I may decide to try a different brand.
