my egt gauge sometimes works--sometimes doesn't. when it doesn't its stuck between 500-600 degrees and doesn't zero out when i turn the truck off. any ideas or ways to check the ohms or something? im thinking its the thermocouple.

TIA,

chris

chris, what kind of gauges do you have? I just installed an X-Monitor and have the same problem. When I start it up cold, its between 500-600 and then it goes nuts as the truck warms up. I am almost positive it is the EGT probe and they will be sending me a new one on Monday and then I will know for sure. If I unplug the probe the reading goes to zero. Larry

i have used autometers. guess it'll be a new thermocouple for me. anyone know where to get one??? TIA, chris

Also, check the bulb. If the bulb is too large, it will cause the needle to stick right in the 5-700* range. My isspros used to do it, that is how I know.
