What should the pyro readings be with probe placed after the turbo? Max etc. Thanks.

Hey Terry, Max exhaust temps recorded after the turbo should never exceed 1150 deg F.
I thought your wife said you couldn't buy the injectors? Good Luck talk to you later! Ted

Hey Ted,
Thanks for the reply. Do the other readings I posted look in line?
By the way, my wife doesn't know about the injectors and it will be awhile before I tell her.
I drove over into Illinois today and was pulling into a gas station and some guy driving a ford PSD asked me what I had done to my truck. He said it sounded awsome. I've had several compliments in the 4 days I've had the exhaust installed. I certainly made the right choice. I give you credit for the exhast in my signature. I love it and it really is AWSOME. Thanks again.

Hey Terry
Thanks for the credit! Jannetty Racing Ent. strives for total customer satisfaction!!!
Where did you get the injectors and how much?
You asked about other readings you posted but I don't see them.
I'm glad you satisfied, talk to you later!

Terry,
I see around 450-550 at 65-70 mph, going down the freeway. Goes up to around 750-800 when climbing long 6% grade and highest I have seen is about 900, when I have really pushed it. All these were while "unloaded" in 6th gear. Turbo "Cool Down" times are noticeably longer after hitting the higher temps.

Ted,
I got my injectors from Scheid Diesel here in town. They were $700 installed.

Frank,
Is your sensor mounted after the turbo?

Yes, it's mounted in the elboow right after the turbo. Forgot to mention, it reads between 250-300 degs at idle, when cooled down. Used Isspro gauge & thermocouple.

Maximum EGT after the turbocharger should be 950 degrees for a quick spike, 900 degrees for a sustained temperature.

My truck (EGT probe in PacBrake elbow) idles at 200 degrees or less, cruises at 450-600 degrees, and peaks at 850 degrees with a 230/605 TST kit. Before the TST kit, the EGT would peak at 800 degrees.

My maximum EGT seems to occur at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle with the engine running between 1400 and 1600 rpm. My EGT is lower at full throttle in this speed range, probably because the turbocharger is extracting more heat from the exhaust to produce higher boost. Generally, the turbo charger cools the exhaust by 10 degrees for each pound of boost.

The most accurate location for the pyrometer probe is in the exhaust manifold ahead of the turbocharger, where the EGT should be kept below 1250 degrees.
