from what i have read is that it is not necessary to completely removet the turbo. you do have to take it loose from the manifold in order to keep metal bits out while drilling and tapping. A magnet and lots of grease while drilling and tapping also works. before you start, stuff a rag or something similar into the manifold past where you are going to drill. Then as you pull the rag out it wil help to remove the shavings as well. Hope this helps.

install

I installed my pyro pre turbo, and I never removed the turbo. Just drill real slow with grease on the bit and tap. I would drill a small amount then remove the drill, clean the grease off, apply more grease then re drill. As you drill you can see the grease filling up with shavings, before it is full of shavings remove them and re-apply more grease. ;) After drilling use your pencil magnet to stick inside of the manifold to get out any shavings. After you use the magnet , tap the manifold using the same process. I never had any problems at all:D Good luck !! Also go to the TST website on how to do the install.

JMcDaniel, nobody on this board was more paranoid then me when it came to adding the pryo--I almost lost sleep thinking of destroying something:D

Well, I put mine pre-turbo. I did not remove or losen turbo, I just drilled until the bit just broke thru--you'll know, then I blew all chips off then greased up bit and finished. Then grease tap and finish that, once all done use a pocket mechanics magnet (Advance Auto for about $5. 00) to fish all the shavings out you can. You will find that they are very very very fine like dust--cast iron tends to do this when you drill--when magnet comes out clean install pyro tip and start up and let it idle, anything left will blow right out the exhaust--No Worrys--Did another one Saturday. Just be sure you use a nice sharp 5/16 bit if its 1/8" pipe.

Jump in, the waters fine! :D :D

Shavings

When I drilled my pyro pre turbo, I didnt remove the turbo or anything. I took an airhose and duct taped it to the exhaust pipe and put about 20 psi of back preassure on the system. All the metal shavings came blowing right back at me and did not enter the manifold. Wear Safety Glasses! I checked with a magnet, and all was clean. Give this a try.
