I'm sure that, like anything else in the exhaust stream, a pyro probe has a service life (ie, before it quits working and/or breaks pieces off and hurts the turbo). While there are certainly many variables that impact this service life, I'm looking for a good recommendation on when to change my probe out. I'd appreciate anybody's thoughts on the matter.

Thanks!

I've never seen one break. Sometime a wire will brak in the loom from vibration and stress over the years causing them to read irratically or not at all but I've never seen one acctually break into pieces. I'd say swap it out when it quites working. If you insist on doing it sooner I'll gladly take that old one off your hands.

Usually if they fail they'll just quit working. I know someone with an ISSPRO thermocouple in his Kenworth that has had it in there for over 22 years w/o any problems.
