Anyone ever have a pyro probe melt off an go thru the turbo cuasing damage?

I haven't had it happen to me but upon
recommendation of "Scheid Diesel" I took
mine out after four years (in manifold)
for inspection. I can tell you that the
tip was pretty "crystallized. " I did not
feel good about putting it back in so I
installed a brand new one. I intend to
check it more often as I can get my EGT's
up to 1300 degrees at times.

you should always use a Incoloy sheath for ultimate protection #ad

I asked a Banks tech about the probe coming apart and doing damage. He said with over 25,000 of their gauges installed they have no had no reports of this problem. They also recommend pre-turbo only.
