My pyro is reading low. Its done this before. I have an Isspro gauge. Begining to think that theres a build up on the probe. It barely hit 400 degrees today. But yesterday it was working fine. I hit over 900 degrees when I stepped on it. .

How long do these thermo couples last?

I had this happen on an Isspro pyro after a couple of years. On the advice of Isspro, I cleaned and tightened all the contact points from the thermocouple to the guage and it's worked fine since.

That's when the "not enough bang for your buck" Banks warranty comes in handy. My Issopro made Banks gauge was replaced no question when it started reading low after five years.

We probably see 1 pyro gauge fail every month, always is an ISSPRO/Banks unit. Only had one thermocouple go out, and that was dues to poor istallation by thw owner of the truck.

Jeff,

I had the same problem last year. It was a little bit of crud/corrosion where the thermocouple wires connect to the wires to the gauge. A little contact cleaner on the connectors and put them back together. It has worked fine since then. My gauge is a combo from Geno's that was made by Westac.
