Well my Banks Pyrometer arrived this week, and I got out the grease gun. Drilled a pilot hole until I thought I was close to going thru, then the 7/16 (for 1/4 pipe fitting) to the bottom of the pilot hole, then started with grease on the 7/16 and on thru. Cleaned the bit about 6 times. Taped the hole to specs with 6 or 8 cleanings and regreasings of the tape. Had some grease on the bottom of the manifold from when the bit went thru, however very little or no shavings. Cleaned up with magnet and small screwdriver. Fired up without a problem. :D :D Road test tomorrow night. Snow King

I put mine in and just about hit the divider in the manifold, if I was just 1/8" farther back I would have been in trouble. Just my two bits and a warning to others who are going to do this.

I also used anti-sieze on the threads also! You never know when it may need to come out again. I installed from TST a smaller, quicker to react therocouple that only required an 1/8 npt x27 threads per inch hole. New item! It only took a 5/16th hole before the tapping. Also if you screw up it could be redrilled with 7/16th and use a reducer or the larger therocouple. Herb;)
