Hi All,

I'm getting ready to order a boost and EGT gauge for my truck, and as I was getting ready to place the order, there was a choice for the length of the lead on the pyrometer and I wasn't sure what to get.

Can anyone tell me what is about the right length lead to get? The gauge will be in a pillar-mounted pod, and I do not want to get one that's too long, and I especially don't want to get one that's too short.

Thanks!

I think on my '97 it was either a 6 or 8 ft. and I had an A-pillar pod. Some advertise a 12 ft length but you would not need that. On most probes you can't remove or add more wire because the gauge is calibrated to the resistance of the length of wire they supply. Better to have a little too much and just make a coil and tie it off under the hood or dash.

I have a dash mount, and my lead is 10' long. Just right. Go ahead and get a longer lead, if you want. Just coil up the excess. Won't hurt anything, but the gauge is cal. for the length of the leadwire.

Put a Isspro EGT on my combine... yes I said combine :) and we lenghtened the wire by 20'. As long as you have the little black box that goes with the gauge then it can be any lenght that you want. PS Combine is a 1995 CUMMINS powered Case IH 1644. VE pump has now been tampered with :-laf

Thanks!

Thanks for the info guys. I was figuring it'd be somewhere around 8 ft, I might go with 10 just to be safe though. I'd rather have a little extra than come up short. :{
