I'm trying to get a switch installed in my QC and have a question for those that have done it. Do I need to have the 'puter in the truck flashed to recognize the switch? I called one dealer to see if they could do this for me and they don't think I need to reflash. If I do need the reflash, can some one point me in the direction of the info.

Thanks.

Phloop,

yes you have to tell the computer that there is a switch installed. I had a friend in our club do it with a DRB tool(i think thats what it was) He also reset the revs per mile so my speedo would be accurate. I would think one of the Northwest bombers would have one. It only takes a minute but the dealers usually rip you for a half hour minimum. It is Worth it as my 9 year old loves to ride up front w/ daddy :D

Best regards

Thanks for the info, I'll check to see if any one around here has one of those tools. And yes on the copilot sitting up front, doesn't do much good to have him in back. The one good thing is I will no longer get punched in the back of the neck every time he see's a VW bug. His fist just fits though the supports of the head rest.

I had this done and am very happy I did. The tech at the dealer had trouble finding the right spot in the menus to tell the computer it had a switch. If you plug in the switch and don't tell the comp the airbag light stays on. I drove it like that till I could have the programing done because I put the switch and bezel in myself. My dealer charged me 30 bucks. Took 30 seconds to do. Took longer for the porter to move the truck to the tech. I may look into buying a good scan tool.
