Q's On Turbo Whine-afe Related

any of you guys know what would be the result if i don't take the silencer ring out when i install my afe intake and torque tube? how much louder than stock w/ ring in and out. i already have a decent turbo whine, and i also can here it through my exhaust (running straight pipe) any thoughts.....

Trust me, with this setup you will want to keep the ring in. My truck produce's plenty of turbo whistle and whoosh. To the point that if the ring was removed I think the whistle would be too overpowering and annoying.

I don't have the torque tube... . just the AFE system. There is a defininite increase in turbo noise, but it's no big deal. Having said that... you should know that I have a 4" aftermarket exhaust which does produce some extra noise over the turbo. What I like most with the AFE system is that "woosh" you hear when you let off the pedal a bit - very cool.
