Cool but uuugly!!

73-87 chevy to cummins motor mount

I have a 2000 durango 4x4 that my wife drives that gets horrible mileage(about 12mpg), I am considering putting a QSBe 4. 5l in it. I am thinking about this motor because is is as quiet as my truck was originally since my wife doesn't like the loudness and sound of the older motors. I want to keep the original trans and run it stand alone since I don't think I can interface the engine and transmission like it is now. It is mainly for mileage but I still want to be able to keep the factory 5K tow rating. Is there an adapter to connect this engine to my transmission? Will the adapter off an earlier 4BT work with this motor and trans? What are the dimensions on this engine? I think that it will fit w/o a body lift since jeff garmon put a 6bt in his dakota. I think there will be room to put the radiator, intercooler, and A/C condenser in it right? I know it will be expensive but I am still interested in this swap for its fuel economy and uniqueness. Am I completely off me rocker?
