I have a friend with the a 98. 5 Cummins, he has 275 injectors, a 35/40 turbo, Raptor RP-150 Fuel Pump (150 GPH) and a Quad-adrenalin, he keeps throwing a P0253 (M) Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve Open Circuit Problem sensed with fuel circuit internal to fuel injection pump. When this happens you can feel a dead spot while driving, if he takes out the Quad-adrenalin the dead spot is gone, and the rig runs fine, any ideas on this, or is the injection pump on the way out.

Sometimes codes will go away for a while then come back. the momentary dead pedal is a great way to catch teh drivers attention and let them know to check codes.

The P0253 can be a sign of a bad injection pump,

"*Defective VP44 Engine Codes
The retrieval of codes does not constitute an engine diagnosis. However, there are some codes that usually indicate a defective injection pump. A current P1688 always means that the pump is bad, there is no further diagnosis required. Code P0216 is probably the most common code for VP-44 Pumps. If transfer pump pressure has been checked and is O. K. , the injection pump is defective. Other codes that are less common are P0180, P0181, P0215, P0251, P0252, P0253, P0254, P0370, P1287, P1689 and P1690. These codes USUALLY, but not always indicate a defective pump. There are wiring and power checks to be performed if these codes are present. These codes relate to Dodge pickups only, and are not for any other ISB application. "

I'm having the same symptoms. But I don't believe that my VP44 is going south! No way!

I have Mach 6's and Quadzilla Adr with pulse. I don't even have the dead pedal spot, I'f i accelerate with adrenaline on, you can see that once the pulse sees even 1 psi boost, the whole truck kinda kicks in to your butt and instant CEL after that. + the p0253 code. Same thing when revving neutral. I got 1psi of boost in around 2800rpm and it makes a loud bang from the exhaust.

I'd really like to know what's causing this!

I think it is caused because the Quad-Adrenalin is a POS out of the box. From all of the reading I have done on this and other sites it looks as though a person would be better off taking the money they spent on it, and put a match to it to heat the house, JMHO.

I can say I'm glad I have not fallen VICTIM to the hype of the Quad-Adrenalin. I'll keep running what has been tried and true, from a manufacture that will stand behind their product and can fix it when it brakes.

My brother had 0253 code for a year. I asked Brady what caused it & he said that code indicates that the IAT sensor inside of the injection pump [internal, not the one on the block] is going bad. Some last forever like that, others last 2 miles. My brother had no issues other than the code.
