I installed a Quad boost fooler last Saturday. I had seen some good responses on TDR about its effectiveness in lowering EGT's while towing, and for $69 it seemed a worthwhile investment. After installation, the green light was illuminated on the unit, so it looked like it was connected correctly.

I started the truck, and the CEL came on. I took it for a drive, and at WOT max boost pressure would only reach 32psi, and then drop back down to 27psi. Without the Quad, I'd reach 31psi before it dropped to 27psi. I certainly didn't see the 40psi that Quadzilla advertises. The boost response did act differently, but overall it seemed like I had lost some power.

I removed the boost fooler, and cycled the engine on and off a number of times to try and clear the CEL, without success. I was headed out with my FW to go camping, and without the boost fooler installed and the CEL still on, the boost response was the same as when I first plugged the boost fooler in: max boost 32psi, dropping to 27psi. After leaving the truck off for several hours, the CEL finally went out and the boost performance returned to normal.

I would really like to get this thing working, if possible. I filled out Quadzilla's contact form Monday morning, but no response yet. Has anyone had a similar experience, or any ideas as to what might be wrong? Thanks, Scott.

I just installed mine as well, but with great results - it is even fooling the Banks IQ. Banks gage registers 24psi MAX at WOT, but mechanical gage showing a hair over 38psi at WOT. Let me know what you find out in case I ever have an issues with mine.

I bought one and it seemed to make no difference in boost. I had it on for about a week then the CEL came on and the truck started running rough. Pulled it off and all is well.

I had issues with mine. First day it was throwing codes on the Banks, but not the CEL. Second day CEL came on and went into limp mode.

At the suggestion of another forum, I moved it from before the Banks connector to the MAP to after the Banks connector - no more codes, but almost zero smoke now under load - I am wondering if the fuel map changed that drastically? I still reach 37-38psi at WOT on Banks and gage, but it spools like stock until about 12psi then climbs rapidly. May try removing it to see if I get smoke back or not.

Problem Resolved... After speaking to a tech at Quad, they had me return the unit to them. They shipped me a new one via priority mail. No CEL this time, and the response is just what DZinger described. Spool is normal until just under 15psi, then it zips on up to 35-37 psi at WOT. The camping season is over, so I won't know what kind of EGT reduction I'll see towing my FW until next May, but I'm very satisfied with the Quad's performance thus far.

Looks as though I will be calling them as well. I removed the BF to see if it had in fact changed my fuel map. I got "normal" smoke again at WOT. I parked the truck outside the garage and re-installed the BF after the Banks. I started it to move it into the garage and CEL came on with two codes.

What number did you call?

I called their main office (888-842-6572). Forget the email address on their contact info page. They tend not to respond to emails, as I was told by one of their distributors after trying that route.
