Getting ready to install race version and I am wondering where everyone is putting the switch at? I was thinking of the empty spot on the right side of radio but was wondering what everyone is doing to keep it stable once you have your hole drilled------------do you just take off the chrome switch off stick it through the hole put switch back on and thats it? Sounds crude but give me some ideas.

Thanks

JIM

I just installed mine and placed the switch to the left of the steering column. The plastic peice below the steering wheel comes off easily and you can pull the left vent peice off and it makes everything easy to get to.

You need to remove the knob, then unscrew the nut on the threaded shaft. Be careful there are 2 washers underneath the nut. Only one should be loose enough to come off. Once you have your hole you run the threads through it and then put the washer and nut back on to keep it tight. If needed you can always shorten the shaft with a pair of dykes if you feel the need.

Hope that helps.

That is what I thought but I didnt want to unscrew something and have it fall apart------been there done that----------I am switching from the pup to the race version so I am looking forward to the results. I will say my truck ran very good with the pup with no issues at all

If you don't have gauges yet you might want to wait to drill a hole. Might be something cool coming from that box company :D :D ;)

I drilled and placed my knob in the blank panel right above the parking brake release handle. Pretty much out of the way but I might shorten the switch shaft a little, it sure seems long there. My install was a cinch and I couldn't be more pleased w/the time of installation as well as the results. Kudos to Quad on a great product.

I put mine on the little blank plastic piece to the left of the steering column as well. There is a big foam piece behind it which I tossed. Drill the hole, remove the switch knob and retaining nut as quad said, and then attach it that way. I had to cut a good portion of the switch shaft off to get the knob nice and flush with the dash plastic. A little at a time!

Jim be sure to let me know how you like the BOX. Talk to you then.

I put mine on the right side of the radio also, it was where the the air bag switch goes on the short cab. Very easy to do as the panel is removalable. I would post a picture but my truck is in the dealer since a young lady fell asleep and got me in the driver side dually fender. Side swipe at 55 MPH in opposite directions and no injuries.
