I just got back on Saturday from a 2100 mile trip from Seattle to Yellowstone and back through Idaho. I also had a trip to Las Vegas in May to May Madness. My truck is described below and I had the Artic Fox A990 10 1/2' camper on both trips. I weighed it on the way back from Vegas and combined weight was #12850. Truck unloaded is #7800. To Vegas I had the stock turbo and AFE Mega Cannon and the Quad was on the 90hp setting. Only on the long passes were the EGTs high. The Outlook was set to defuel at 1250* and did so a few times. Especially if I had a good speed going (65-70) and had a slower vehicle pull in front of me. Even turning the levels down would not help as I needed fuel to get going again and there was not enough air to keep it cool. Downshifting to 5th took care of that. On the trip to Yellowstone I had the HT2B and BHAF without heat shield. Most of the passes were taken at 65 mph or slower due to the many cutbacks. The route back was almost all state highways or less as we came through the Tetons, Jackson, Wy and Ketchum and Lewiston, ID. On the steep passes I had to keep the rpms at 2000 or so to keep enough air flowing. That meant dropping to 5th gear at least. Truck had plenty of power, especially when the HT2B kicks in, and on the up side, with the rpms and speed low my mileage was 12-15 mpg. That I measured by hand at each fillup. The temps through Idaho were 90-100* and the BHAF has no heat shield. I was probably sucking a lot of very hot air from the engine. Had no choice as the HT2B with the AFE had way too much whistle for such a long trip. As it was the better half thought the cops were always after us until I explained the new turbo :-laf Have to say I am glad I have the Outlook to defuel though. Without it I would have to spend a lot of time keeping an eye on the EGT gauge and adjusting fueling myself. Overall I am plesed with the combo but will be looking into a heat shield for the BHAF.
