Quad cab door adjustment

I have a 99 Dodge Cummins Quad Cab and the rear door on the drivers side will not open when the handle is pulled. The door would open when the handle was pulled but not until the handle was pulled all the way out and has slowly gone to not working. Is there some adjustment and if so how do you go about making this happen? Good ideas would be appriciated and bad would be tolerated. Good to have ya. Have you ever lubed the lower latch? Seems to catch a lot of junk.

Had to take mine apart to fix it. There was a part on the inside of the door handle that 2 rods attached to, the screw in the center was coming out. Not the interior door hanlde, but the one that is normally hidden when the front door is closed. I had to take the inside of the door (the plastic part) off to get in there and fix it. Did this twice, the second time I had to put blue loctite on the screw to keep it from loosening. I got lucky and was able to open the door with a real quick yank on the handle. I don't know how someone would get the inside part of the door off if they couldn't get the door open.
