I have been hearing this creaking/groaning noise coming from my quad cab doors. I think it is rubber on metal. The question is how do you fix it. It is driving me nuts!!!!! :{
That's why I decided to make my '98 a Club Cab, got tired of the creaky squeaky on my '01. But there are things you can do to make it much better. There is a little plastic slider piece that's part of the latch on the bottom that gets dirt & junk in there which often causes irritating creaks & squeaks. Blast it out with compressed air or with Q-tips then spray some dry lube in there.
It also helps to wipe down all the door jambs and the weather stripping them apply some kind of silicon to keep the rubber in good condition.
Is that you simply have to clean and lube everything? Is there a way to tighten the doors up? When they are closed it appears to have a little play in the door.
Check the latch mechanism on the bottom of the door itself. It's held in place by 2 machine screws. They are either phillips head or torx - can't remember which. But mine have loosened up a couple of times. I think they also allow some adjustment for how tight the door closes.
Then do as Vaughn suggests. Mine squeeks occasionally, too, but mostly in the winter. I haven't been able to figure out where, but fortunately its pretty minimal.
