i have a 2002 quad cab and the quad doors do not open. the truck has never been wrecked to my knowledge, and has a little over 50,000 miles on it. any one else had this problem, if so how did you get the doors open to fix the problem?

It's usally the lower latch that sticks, i have to lube mine all the time. I bought mine with both door stuck. Get a can of penetrating oil with the plastic straw on it and spray it in from the end as close to the latch as you can. Let it soak and then yank hard on the door. Good luck

On mine the cable that runs from the door latch mechanism and the door handle goes through and clips into a plastic mount on the door panel. Hard to explain but easy to see with the rear door panel off. I have not figured how to repair it yet but I used duck tape to fasten the cable to the inside of the door panel. I am wondering if there is a way to use a small wire clamp or something to repair. The reason it failed is probably lack of lube as mention above. Least that is what happened on mine.

1/2 can of WD-40, 1 hour, and about 50 really hard kicks (my wife stood out side the truck holding the latch and tugging on it while i was inside kicking it like a mule) and they came loose. luckily i never damaged the inside panal, but i was prepared to. better keep them well lubed up for now on. thanks alot for the advice.

There is an 8 mm bolt/nut that holds the actuating mechanism inside the quad door. When the door gets hard to open, that needs Locktite and retightening. Be careful with the cable when you pull the door panel off, mine broke and I had to buy a new cable.

Remove the screws that hold the handle in the door jamb, then pull the handle and move it up and down to pull the rods a little extra, if that doesnt work you can access the rods to the latches directly by removing the handle, then pull the rods with vice grips.
