What is every ones opinion on using this instead of multiple gauges? I know it is digital instead of analog but that does not matter to me. Thanks.

I ran my Commander as a stand-alone gauge. Works great, and to run the equivelent amount of analog you'd be out a lot more money. Plus, later on you can use it to control a box. You can also set defuel settings and alarms for max EGT and boost as well. I love mine.

I just installed my Commander last week. Can't believe I went so long w/o it. Install was pretty easy and tech service helped me out w/ three questions in two and a half minutes.

I would say to definitely go for it.

Thanks guys. Did you use the A pillar mount for this unit or?? Other than EGT and FP, is it simply a plug and play set up? I tried to view the installation pdf on Quads site but no go.

Brian

Yes, I used the A-pillar mount. It's a little cheesy but I'm probably the only one that will notice. I still might do a little trimming on it to make it fit better.

Other than the EGT and FP it is pretty much plugging/splicing things in. And the FP is very easy to do. Tapping the manifold is the only pain.

I've got the A-Pillar for mine. Pretty much a few wires to tap and drill/tap for pyro. The FP is an easy install. You remove one banjo bolt from the top of your CP3 and install the adapter and sender. Make sure when you do the FP sender that you have the fiber washer, then the wire, then the nut in that order on the post.

Commander above rear view mirror?

Anyone tried mounting the Commander above the rear view mirror? Would the wires be long enough to reach where they need to go. . ie the turbo? I see they now have pods for analog gauges for that location.

No way the factory wires are long enough. You could always splice 'em to make 'em reach. Thought about this as I was doing my install, but figured since I'd already bought the A pillar mount, just to go with it. Like it alot.

Commander 'A' Pillar Mount

Does the 'A' Pillar mount for the Commander go over the top of the stock 'A' Pillar cover or do you remove part of the stock piece?

IT goes over the top of the factory piece. It is a piece of cake to install. I really like the commander, you can monitor about anything you want, and since I have a manual transmission, I used the wire to monitor my oil temp. Overall it is a great setup and lends itself to future mods pretty easily. Would be nice to have a cool down timer. . HINT HINT Quad... .

Is the Commander capable of displaying any engine diagnostic information. . ie codes? I assumed that it obtained and displayed it's information from the engine CAN-BUS data stream but it appears that it is using seperate senders to get most if not all of its info.

No, it doesn't display codes. You tap wires for the following: rail press (off wiring to rail press sensor), water temp, and boost. Then you run wires from EGT sender and trans temp sensor (or engine oil if you prefer), FP sensor threads into the top of CP3. Then run the harness thru the firewall to the monitor. Pretty easy.

Wheres the cheapest place to get this with a A pillar mount and the fuel pressure monitor kit.

Extreme diesel (343. 00) had it a little cheaper than Geno's with free shipping included. Any others?

thanks
