Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I think I had a problem before adding the quad box. I just bought the standard 30/60/100hp version because I am trying to resist a ton of mods.
Prior to ading the box I had an intermittant issue where the wastegate would open at ~2800 rpm for a second then close again, producing a pretty good lurch, only happens in third gear, empty, WOT.
With the quad box on 30hp it seems to be gone, as well as on the 60 hp setting, both of which seem to offer a little higher boost number than stock. On the 100hp setting though, the wastegate is coming open, dropping boost to 25-26 and the EGTs of course shoot up really fast when it happens.
I was hoping that the boost fooling feature of the quad would fix the issue I had when it was stock. It seems like it might have on the lower settings but seems much worse on the highest setting.
I have had only a 15 minute drive so far so I will try it out more today. The truck has 74k miles on it, '06 G56. Any ideas on what I might want to check out? I don't think it has anything to do with the quad box. Could the wastegate itself be worn out? The internal spring weak? I am guessing it is held shut by spring pressure and opened by vacuum, or do I have the operation backwards?
