I just installed a Quadzillia 65HP - 185 LB XZT box on my 03 CTD. I love the low end power and pull of such a small box. After about 2 weeks I began to notice that the transmission seems to be taking longer to shift to the next gear winding up to about 2500 before shifting. Once it locks up the transmission about 50 or so you really feel the pulling of the extra power.

Here is the issue that suddenly started. Now after the transmission locks if you give it a moderate amount of throttle and it begins to pull suddenly it starts shuddering really bad eventually going away.

I read the posts on shuddering. I have all new u-joints. Not that. So I removed the box and tested. Problem is gone. Put the box back on and it's back.

transmission has 109K on it so I am going to have it serviced at the dealer with a filter change and bands tightened.

Anyone seen this or something similar? Recommendations?

47re transmission is the weak link in these trucks. They dont take much more power than stock before they start to slip. Mine has 439,556kms and still works well with only fluid changes and band adjustments. I do not have any power upgrades.

If it's a '03 HO the transmission is a 48RE.

How many times have you had the transmission serviced in the 109k? Do you have 4. 10 or 3. 73 gears?

Next plan on replacing the injectors, I had an xzt on my 04. 5. It ran great but you can really hear the rattle from the injectors, then when you have it to the floor on a hard pull let up on the throttle and it will "stick" for a second, pretty soon it will not start.
