I have an older step-van with the 4bt Cummins and it is getting air in the fuel line when sitting a few days. I have read that diesel fuel deteriorates rubber line in 8-10 years. This truck is 13 years old so I feel it's time to replace the lines.

Who/ what company makes the best rubber line and or what do you suggest?

The first time it did it the line was actually plugged and we couldn't force air back to the tack!!

We intend to drop the tank (plastic )and clean it at the same time.

I would use marine grade line that is rated for diesel fuel. They have a higher standard than on the road applications, due to having to be suitable for use in the bilge of a vessel, which is a very demanding environment. Any West Marine/Boat US or other marine supply will have the hose or any marine diesel shop. It is more expensive, however. Everything for boats seems to be.

Another possibility is to check your yellow pages for an industrial hose and fitting shop. Tell them your application and they can supply an Aeroquip, Parker or similar top-quality industrial hose and associated fittings that will do the job.

I'm very partial to the Parker brand name. Parker manufactures and markets many different seals, o-rings, fittings, lines, and hoses for heavy industrial and hydraulic applications. I've used their stuff exclusively in my truck because it's high quality for a low price.

They have several hose types that are compatible with diesel fuel. My favorite is their new blue Prestomatic Parflex PFT "Smurf" :D diesel fuel tubing and fittings. I haven't bought any yet, but am planning on it.
