I'm looking for a set of quality running boards with a strong mounting system. My dad had some really nice boards on his older Ford that had something like a 2 1/2" -3" nerf bar with a flat running board type plate on top of them. Strong as all get out and stainless, but I can't remember the name of them. I've been looking around for about a week now and haven't really happened on anything.

Does anyone have any idea where to look? Stainless would be nice because I want them to last the life of the truck and they have to mount exceptionally strong. Good looks would be nice too.

Thanks for any helf you can offer...

I have mopar running boards on my 05 and the mounting system is as beefy as any I have seen and they do not look too bad. But the surface has taken a beating from the 40 miles of gravel I drive everyday. But for the most part they are holding up way better than most I have seen.

It's been quite a few years since I was in the market for running boards but my choice was the Stull stainless boards. They offer more rocker panel protection than the nerf bars but cost a little more.

My second choice would have been the Westin chrome plated stainless nerf bars. Easy to install, good quality and very solid.

How much are you willing to spend on running boards or steps?

The top of the line are the AMP steps that will retrack when the door is closed and extend when open. These are around $1000. My older sons wants these on his 2006 Dodge CCLB.

I am using the Westin Chrome plated stainless steel bars. I have had them on my 2001 Chevy and now a new set on my 2008 Mega Cab.

My younger son has my 2001 Chevy for a work truck and the steps still look new.

I've got Smittybilt ones on mine. Generally these don't last very long before they rust (the non-stainless ones anyhow), but I had mine Rhino-lined when they did the install, and they're holding up very well.

I had dealer install diamond plate aluminum factory side steps for a few hundred. They look and fit great. I am a big guy and they feel strong when I step on them and make getting into the truck so much easier. Worth every dollar.

Thanks

Thanks for everyones input. It looks as though the Stull board are what my dad had on his truck. I've been looking for a dealer and haven't been able to find one, I've only found pictures of their product.

Does anyone know who sells the Stull running boards?

I sure like my Luverne Stainless Steel Running Boards w/Box Boards. I installed these as soon as I purchased my 05 Dodge. They were not difficult to install and they are very sturdy. They're brighter than the picture show, but we had just over Wolf Creek Pass and it had snow and slush.

Onki is another brand to check out. Mine have held up great... except when I high centered on a jump at 60 mph... but even then, they didn't get beat up too badly, and it prevented body damage!
