Truck is 01 with an automatic and has the edge juice with attitude. I have stock trans so I have only played around with the juice up to level three. I can only reach 18-20 psi on all three settings. I have some freinds making 30+ psi with only an edge juice and monitor although their trucks are 03's or newer. Is something wrong with my truck?

Did you do the install yourself? I ask because there should be a boost fooler installed on your waste gate. If it's there then fuel could be the answer. I have a 02 with Diesel Dynamics stage two injectors and I see 40psi everyday. So much in fact the juice is set to alarm at 40 and de-fuels at 45.

Ditto to what DOrlando said. Mine will make 30 psi without even trying. Make sure your Air filter is clean. Also is your fuel pressure staying good with this. Also if you havn't already I would look to upgrading your lift pump to a Fass/Airdog/or walbro/ Just somthing that will handle a little more HP

It sounds to me like the little brass orifice to your wastegate is not installed. The stock wastegate is set up to open at 20psi. With the orifice installed you should see 28-30psi with stock fueling.

Just to warn you, my auto transmission with over 110,000 miles lasted less than 6 months after I installed the juice/attitude.....

I can second your transmission opinion. I have 100K on mine and just installed a Juice w/Attitude. I'm hoping the transmission will make it until spring.

As mentioned previously, sounds like you haven't modded the wastegate line. You would have had to drill the wastegate line with a drill bit and pushed a corrector into the end of it. If you do that, the J/A should make in the low 30's with no other mods.

If it still doesn't, make sure you have tapped the correct pump wire and that the connection is good.

Another way to check the pump wire tap is to turn the power up on the box setting and see if boost increases. Assuming you have the wastegate mod done, it will if the pump wire is doing something.

thanks guys

I bought the truck with the edge just having been installed so I don't know if a boost fooller was done. I feel a nice noticeable power increase on level one and only slightly more of an increase on level 2 and 3 respectively. On two and three I can get to 1250 egts when I push it pretty quick. I normal maintain about 13 to 14 psi fuel pressure and when I am on it it will suck it down to 9 or 10 psi but thats it,it looks like it has just had a transfer pump relocation kit done as the fuel pump is on the drivers side frame rail. If it isn't adding feul the trans is hating just the timing advance then,it will shudder but not slip if I acccelerate from a lower rpm when it has already shifted to overdrive. The trans has never gotten hotter than about 175 though, transmission was replaced at 160k at a dodge dealer and feels very healthy except for the shudder when the juice is on. I also have the BAHF and not the stock airbox. What does a boost fooler look like so I can see if it has one or has been modified.

I think I mean what does a boost elbow look like. I assume the J/A is the Boost fooler but I need something that will not open the wastegate at 20 psi. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If you have the instructions that came with the juice it has a pretty good explaination. There is a tube that comes off the compressor housing and goes to the wastegate actuator. This is the "boost elbow". On mt '01 it was a hard line. If you loosen the 2 bolts that hold the actuator onto the mount (10mm if I recall) you can pull the tube out of the rubber seal where it goes into the compressor. There should be a brass plug with a small hole in the center that is stuffed into this line and then a pin drill is used to drill a hole thru the line so the actuator never sees the full boost from the compressor. If this plug is not installed or the pin hole not drilled the actuator willopen the wastegate at the factory pressure setting.

thanks, all I can see is a very short black line about a . 25 in in diameter coming from the compressor housing and making a 90 degree turn before entering the waste gate actuator head. the whole thing is about an inch and a half long. Is this it?

I just read on another site that 01 and 02 automatics can't use a boost elbow, the line from the turbine housing to the waste gate head is metal. I also read that something called a J hook is used to keep the actuator from opening the waste gate at all or incorporates a spring to make it open later, with more boost. Should the J/A have included this device since my truck is an 01 auto?does the J/A have a built in boost fooler? If I make my own j-hook will the J/A keep the trucks computer from setting a code?

You have the same hard line as mine has. You can install the brass plug as described. If you do not have the Edge manual try thier website. A picture says a thousand words. It is really quite simple.

I do have the manual it just says there is no boost elbow to install for 01 autos and thats it no mention of anything further and there is no picture on edge's download instructions about the istallation of the boost elbow. I did find this on there site

Note: On 2001+ vehicles with automatic transmissions, the turbo waste gate is a solid line and does not have a brass elbow to be replaced.

It also makes no mention about installing a brass plug or drilling a hole in the line from the compressor housing to the actuator.

On some other sites everyone uses a j- hook or a device with a spring to delay the opening of the wastegate. I like your idea I just don't know if I want to completely disable my wastegate, just get it to open at about 30 psi. what is a pin hole drill is it just a bit the size of a pin?does this completely disable the waste gate?

Hmm, I will have to dig out my instructions. I installed mine when I put in an Edge EZ many years back so I did not have to do it when I had the juice put in.

Here's the hardlined wastegate install instructions... but the corrector was a custom part DD used to fabricate. Edge had some at one time... not sure if they still do or not.

Thank you Keith,

Those instructions brought it all together in my mind. I will have to contact DD and see if I can get that restrictor. does this keep boost under or at 30 on the hy?

Depends on how much power the truck makes. More power = more boost. On a truck with just a Juice/Attitude, I'd expect in the low 30's.
