I have a 05 SWB 4X4 Quad cab with 88K miles. I love the truck but I found a super clean 99 SWB ex-cab 4X4 that is every bit as clean as my 05. I am considering buying this truck and selling my 05 because of the thought of having to shell out 3 grand to replace the injectors at some point on the 05. The only problem is the 99 has 4. 10 gears and I would rather have 3. 73s or 3. 54. I pull a 5th wheel but it is not that heavy. If I put factory 17 inch wheels with 285 tires does anyone know how much that would effect my gear ratio since it has factory 16 inch wheels now? Also the truck has 171K is there anything other that the lift pump to worry about on the 99 model? It runs great the transmission shifts good but looks to have the original lift pump.

I put 115,000 miles on a 99 auto. Lift pump failed early on and torque converter failed at about 30,000 miles. I used it to pull a 31" Carri Lite. bg

You are far more likely to have to shell out $1300 for a vp44 on the 99 than you are to have to replace the injectors on the 05. If that is your only reasoning, stick with the 05, the maintenance will be cheaper.

ive got a 99 and an 05, the 05 sits in the driveway most of the time cause i love to drive my 99. like said above the 99 might nickel and dime u due to age, but it is easy to work on and parts r cheaper now. front end is the weak point but once replaced u should get years out of it. love the 05 interior with leather heated seats and nav stero and ride is smoother, my 99 has the 4:10, wish i got them in the 05 i dont do a lot of hway driveing, if so stick with the 373 rear. i bought the 05 2 years ago cause my 99 was nickle and diming me i got a good deal on a loaded 05 so i bought it. shame it sits 5 days a week, i put the miles on the 99, its a dice roll on the injectors, but if its gonna happen its gonna happen i wouldn't worry about injectors soo much. If thats the sole reason to get rid of the 05 your crazy.
