Hi, I own a 89 Dodge Q cab, but I have a question about a 2003 Diesel Ford,3/4 ton, that my widowed neighbor has. She bought the Ford at the local Dodge dealer and took it to a Ford dealer who states she needs "air" seals in the front differential for a cost of $800. 00. The Dodge dealer where she bought it states nothing is wrong. I have replaced grease seals in vehicles before but didn't quite understand "air" seals in the front end. Has anyone ever hear of this? Thanks for any info regarding this problem. I kind of have the feeling the Ford dealer is giving her the shaft.

if they said in the front differential i would seem to think AXLE SEALS. i just replaced them in my 03 excursion and they were 96. 00 for the two of them(available through ford only). it requires removing the the hubs and axles then removing the front end gears. can be quit timely to replace but anything ford does costs twice as much.
