I just tried my smarty out today and it showed 3 codes and I cleared them, it said cleared but they are still there even though it was not started. Are there some default codes that will not clear or not?

Can't remember. now I have more serious smarty issues truck won't start there is another thread in engine transmission accessories on it.

I have had the same problems. sent back the smarty had it reprogramed. still have the same problems. soon as i up load the smarty start throwing codes that will not clear.

My truck is stock, no tuning boxes or chips. But I have an Actron plug in scanner that I use on the CTD and our other two vehicles.

The instruction manual explains that it reads all codes but can only erase some. It further notes that there are "hard codes" that only the dealer's equipment can clear.

I don't know if tuning boxes perform the same way.

Good luck,

John

The codes that is has are not CEL related meaning no check engine light,they where there when I scanned with smarty and it said they were cleared but they were still there even if I did or did not turn key off.

Go to the thread in the engine transmission accessories section, it will explain everything. My engine ecm retired. :{

UNH-OHHhhhh! :eek: :{

Nothing that can be cleared by cleaning plugs and contacts?

Hope you have better luck locating one than I have - other than a new one from a dealer... :rolleyes:

Not a problem. Bob Wagner has already ups reded one this morning he has them on hand. Or at least he had one for my 02.

Got ECM in and pickup is back up and running. THANK YOU Bob and Marco.

BUT It still has the same 3 codes as before that will not clear the smarty says DTC are clearerd but when you go back and look they are still there. I checked them at first key on with smarty after ecm install. they are-

P1693

P1765

P0622

started and ran and tried to clear but they are always there.

could the p0622 be a bad alternater if so how would it know this if I haven't even started it yet?

don't know about the other 2 I have a different valvebody and a torque lock from BD could this cause the P1765 code?

Will the Smarty clear PCM codes too,or does it just clear the engine ecm codes?The codes that are not clearing are PCM related do I need to use a regular scan tool to clear these?

FWIW with a Catcher SW loaded I always get:

p1693

p0602

Jim

these codes where there before any program was loaded. Marco said that the smarty will clear the ecm and pcm codes. he thinks its possible that I have pcm issues also.
