I have an Ultra Gauge and I just happened to notice it reading 20% engine load when I was stopped at a light. Seemed kinda high for not moving. I had AC off and had just driven about 30 highway miles. When I got home, looked again and it was in the 20% range. Then I put it in park and it dropped to 5% and below load, then put it back in drive (foot on brake) and it jumped again to 20%. Is that normal or is this indicative of an issue (Torque Converter?). See pics.

Put back in to D (drive) foot on brake.

Thanks in advance for ideas/comments.

pretty normal, when in gear and at a stop the engine has to spin the torque convertor while the transmission is not spinning,. That is a pretty large viscous load that you are turning.

Ok that is good to know (that it is normal). I just happened to look at it and wondered if it was normal. Truck is running perfectly.

Thanks to all.

Big thing is if it gets to the point where you cannot hold it with the brakes and it wants to pull the truck through the stop sign then your torque convertor is failing.

Mine seems like it is pulling too much at idle. If I take my foot off the brake at a stop, it wants to go.
Dealer says it is fine.
