Question about FP gauge.

If i replace the banjo bolt on the delivery side of my lift pump with a tapped one from Genos can i mount up a FP gauge there so i can moniter my lift pump. Or do i put the tapped bolt somewhere else?

It sorta boils down to a matter of elementary logic:



Question:



WHY do I want to monitor fuel pressure?



ANSWER:



To make sure the VP-44 gets proper fuel flow, to protect it from damage or failure. (VP-44's cost SERIOUS $$$$!)



Question:



Then WHERE is the BEST place to place a guage, in order to best monitor fuel flow/pressure to the the VP-44?

AS CLOSE to the VP-44 as possible!



A bit of supporting info - it's entirely possible for you to see EXCELLENT fuel pressure AHEAD of the fuel filter, when ACTUALLY, the fuel filter is SERIOUSLY clogged, and starving the VP-44 for fuel - and unless things get so bad the engine finally dies for lack of fuel, you could possibly be driving merrily along, comfortable that you have PLENTY of fuel pressure, while the VP-44 and engine are strangling...



Now, you don't REALLY want that to happen, do you?

Well, the GUAGE, *I* would put somewhere INSIDE the cab, where it can be easily viewed under different driving conditions...



BUT, as far as where to ATTACH the guage's pickup point, *I* did this:

I mean, call me stupid (everyone else does!) - but since it's the VP-44 *I* want to protect, it just seems sorta sensible to be checking fuel pressure AT the VP-44... But, if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will maybe mention it...



I mean - what the hey - maybe hooking it up back somewhere in the exhaust pipe is a better idea...

I thought you werent suppose to permanently attach to the schrader valve?

It's MY dern truck - I paid fer it, and I'll attach any dern thing I want, anyWHERE I want...



NO reason not to - mines been there since the truck was new - works great - the guage is happy, the LP is happy - the VP-44 is happy - what more can ya ask for?
