Besides the actual fuel pump itself, what else would prevent fuel from getting to the cylinder??

Sis in law in Arizona has 90 CTD and no fuel to cylinders. Dealer says( without seeing it) most likely fuel pump..... $800.

She said she was driving down the road and began to lose power and pulled over to check the oil etc to prevent major damage. It has not run since.

She cracked the injectors and no fuel when cranking.

She lives a ways from town and is trying to trouble shoot it.

She is out here in Ca for a couple days and I thought I'd pose this problem for the folks on the board.

She has no phone/internet where she is,( Lives way out in the sticks,so to speak) so all responses will be printed for her to attemp to trouble shoot when she gets back home. .

Thanks in advance for the help. Ed

It might just be no power to the the fuel solenoid or the solenoid is bad. Try a jumper wire directly from battery +. If it runs problem is in the wiring harness/ignition switch ect. If it still does not run replace the solenoid.

Before all this make sure there is fuel in the fuel filter and if none then the lift pump is suspect. Even if there is fuel in the filter it shoud be replaced to eliminate the possibility of it being clogged.

It is located on the side of the block (driver side) below the fuel filter. It has a small handle on the inside (towards the front of the motor) that can be pumped to see if fuel is making it to the filter bleed or the Injection pump bleed. Injection pump bleed is located on the side of the pump and the nut faces directly at the driver. You can crack this and pump the fuel pump and if it is making fuel pressure and the fuel filter is not plugged, you should get fuel out. It only needs to be slightly cracked not removed to test.

She could have a pluged fuel filter. I wood
replace the fuel filter first, then fill the fuel filter with the lift pump and then open the fuel pump blead and fill the fuel pump. that way you know you are getting fuel from the tank to the fuel pump. If she has twin tanks as I do . She may have lost the chang over valve and the gage will chang over but not the tanks. This will run one tank dry but your gage will be regstering on the other tank.
