HTB2 wastegate rod position/stuck open?

TST PM3 vs TST PM3 Comp Is there a diff?

I was reading up on the G/V web site and if I understood it right the G/V unit replaces the carrier bearing in our drive line, is this right? All of the ones that I've seen installed were mounted to the rear of the transmission.

Thanks, Chris

i had a GV what it does it makes it so you only need one drive shaft. so no carrier bearing. just remember GV and exhaust breaks dont mix!

hemi, thanks for the come back, but I got an e-mail from GV to day and they say that it does replace the carrier bearing, and I have to have both shafts modified. They call it a remote mount. And they also say no problem with an exhaust brake, I just have to remember to turn the GV off before I hit the brake. I guess something will go bang if I hit them both at the same time. Now I just have to come up with the cash for another toy for the truck.

Thanks again,

Chris

odd. mine had 1 shaft... but i have a 6 speed transplant... didnt even think of that. . sorry bout bad info. . i blew mine because of the exhaust brake. and when i called them they said that having a alot of dodges with manual transmitions have problems with them breaking... . i guess it depends on how you drive. . i am 18 years old so ill let you guess to how mine gets driven. i also towed alot! :D

i would look into the US gear. IMO its a better set up for our trucks.

agian. sorry about bad info

Mine is mounted directly to the back of the transfer case and did not remove the carrier bearing. But the first half of the drive line is now 12" or so long. I took it to six states a while back to have the U joints replaced and drive lines balanced and was told I could remove the carrier bearing and go with a 1 piece drive line if I ever have a problem with the carrier bearing. This is a Qcab long bed. My sig does not show this

Justin, yes mine is a 2 wd, I don't have a need for a 4x4. So I spend my cash on other things. Just because your 18 doesn't mean any thing, I'm a lot older than you and I have 2 cars setting beside the house with blown engines. Can you guess how I did that? I have also left my share of trannys and diffs. in little pieces along the way.

Not bad info, just not all the facts.

yea... 2wd. no transfercase. in my truck its a 5600 and t case so the short shaft would have been very short. no need for it in a 2wd makes since. hehe, i havent blown a engine yet! 2 tannys a rear end. a tcase. a GV. ive been trying really hard to blow up a 360 in a ramcharger. . but just cant do it. maybe when i throw the nos on i will acomplish my goal. at 18 i havent had enough time to have a good list built up yet :D

justin

edit: scratch that... i havent had enough money to get a good list going... .

4x4 mount on the back on T-Case and 2wd mount in place of the carrier bearring. They supply a huge plate that goes where the carrier bearring used to be.

I would be real careful with using a exhaust brake with the GV. . There has been tooooooooooooooo many folks that have killed their GV. And I wonder why I would want to spen all that money and have to turn it off everytime I use the exhaust brake.

The reason that I say this is because I use my e. brake all the time. Whether I am going down a long hill or just slowing down for traffic. . If you were to use your e. brake like I do. . you would have to remember to turn it off before the brake comes on.

With the U. S. Gear. . you dont have to worry about it... leave it on and engage the e. brake. . You are not going to kill it... like you will the G. V.

2wd with no Exhaust break. and an auto... GV would be fine... i still like the US gear better. because you can use it forword backwords and in 4x4...

is the GV on a 2wd Divorced from the transmiton??????

No, you won't have something go bang, but you will burn the clutches up and a re-man unit is $750. 00 plus shipping. :{

Justin, if you mean that the GV is not bolted to the rear of the transmission, then yes it is divorced from the transmission. It is mounted were the carrier bearing is now.

Chris

the GV doesen'y have clutches, it has one big cone clutch. What gets me is that its only a three pinion planet, (33% load on each gear). In 47 re's the diesels have 5 gear planets and the 48 re's the diesel have 6 pinion planets. The transmissions in the gas rigs have 3 pinions and the V-10's have 4 pinions.

The GV unit on two wheel drive are divorsed. Also GV unit can only come on after 12-19 mph because it has a pump in it to generate line pressure. The US gear will work anytime. GV are a much nicer company to deal with and US gear will put it to yah ant times. US gear still owes me $700 on a defective brake. They said they would pay me way back in March. oh well. I still say that go with GV if you own an auto with no exhaust brake, and US gear if you have a standard or exhaust brake.
