Got the truck dyno'd this past weekend and I had some quick questions maybe someone could help me with about load and power.
The dyno I ran on was a brand new "DynoCom" chassis dyno with a brake load. Apparently this dyno calculates power and torque from a brake load percentage on the rollers to how fast the vehicle accelerates the rollers. I did a total of five runs and the first 2 runs were done at about 60% brake load. The RPM ramp rate was quite fast so I suggested rasing that load percentage closer to 100%. The operator told me the dyno manufacturer told them never to go to 100% so he put it at 95% and then 97% for my last 3 runs. The RPM ramp rate was considerably slower and the engine felt like it was working harder to spin the rollers up.
My last run was the most power and torque and that got me thinking since that run had the highest load percentage. Theoretically I would think that this dyno could be loaded up to the point that my engine would be able to accelerate the rollers fast enough to give a reading and be making way more than I was @ 97% load. So that is my question, do you guys think that this dyno loaded me enough to give me accurate numbers or could it have been loaded to a certain point that would have given me max possible torque due to max dyno load capacity? I hope I am making sense with this, just trying to understand load vs. power from my experience this weekend.
