My trans guy is going to install a new spring in my valvebody to increase line pressure so I don't frag my clutches. I know I need to install a electrical resistor to stop the ecm from freaking out. My guy said it may be best to install it at the trans instead of in the engine compartment.

What do you guys suggest (location)?

And what are some pressure suggestions? 150psi or closer to 200psi?

And at the higher end, he said he would worry about fragging the oil pump (possibly)... ?

There are no sensors on line pressure. You can set line pressures to what is needed to hold the power. However, messing with the TV pressure will cause issues.

How much pressure will depend on how much power and how many clutches you have in the packs. Once you raise the line pressures enough you will need to replace pistons and other pieces as the most of the stock ones will not hold the higher pressures.

According to your sig, you've got a Goerend Bros torque convertor? When I had mine put in, Dave told me the pressures in the VB were around 150-160. When I asked him about the resistor, he said some trucks need it, and some don't. I've been running mine for over 10000 miles without it, and it hasn't caused an issue.

I had Goerends VB installed originally, but it shifted... wrong. I was in 4th gear by 15mph. Something was not right. So my trans guy modded my VB and I returned Daves... . But my guy didn't increase pressure over stock BECAUSE we thought that was why Daves VB was causing the flakeout. Anyhow, my guys gonna change the spring in the VB to alter the pressure. Everything is fine the way it is now, shifting and firmness... but I'm worried about slipping clutches... :{

BTW- Goerend was great about everything. I returned his VB, he reimbursed me PLUS paid for the extra work my trans guy performed. He later determined I did need the resistor... Now everyone is telling me I don't need it. Dusty Hawk Pm'ed me on another site and said I don't need it. I think I'll trust him on this one... :D
