Snow Plows - Need Advice

I have ordered pyrometer, boost and Auto trans guages. I have my 1/4" tap and 7/16" drill bit for the exhaust manifold. I have a 3/4" NPT to 1/4" NPT reducer for the boost guage.

I have no idea how to install the temp sensor in the transmission pan. Will the parts come with the guage kit? They are ISSPRO guages. Just realized that I'll have to get a filter and gasket kit for the transmission because I'm sure I'll have to drop the pan.

Can someone give me a little advice on the temp sensor?

Thanks,
Bobby

My first advice: do not put the sensor in the transmission pan. If you want to read real time operating oil temp, you want the sensor in the line that feeds the trans cooler. Dodge has a replacement line with the fitting for the sensor built in. The oil in the pan has already been cooled and does not give you the info you need. I have one on my truck.

bdaniel,
The part # for the trans. line with the temp. port is 5011244AA. Make sure the flex hose comes with it. I went thru a lot of grief with this one. (Look up '00/'01 trans. temp... . thread in 2nd Gen,Eng/Drivetrain section of roundtable)
You can call 877-511-5599 and ask for Blair.
The part cost about $70 US w/ about $20 shipping. Blair also includes the fitting to replace the check valve in your "heat exchanger". I just ordered mine this week, so I can't give you any install tips yet. He said that he had some coming in last Thur. so they should be in stock

ol ron is correct. I bought the replacement line from Dodge with the fitting for the trans temp. Pan temps will be way cooler than what your hot line reading will be. Some of the guys have just tapped into the existing line with a T fitting. There were some threads on how they did it. You can do a search and probably find it.

tmacc:

Thanks for the info on the line and the contact. The dollar is very strong in Canada and I got a killer price on the lines, fittings, and heck - I added a Mopar Performance Trans Pan for about $100. 00!! Blair was very nice and shipped everything the same day. Hope I can figure out how to install the darn thing. #ad

install is easy , just messy , i did mine while changing to my mag hytec pan and doing the fluid change after my DTT TC and VB install , if you have an aftermarket TC , drain it first , if not , man the life boats , when you remove the line the TC will drain out the port , you will be removing the forward line on the trans .

disconnect from the heat exchanger and be careful removing the plastic clips that hold the 2 lines together . after you have the line off , now the heat exnchanger is going to drain , use a socket to remove the fitting , if you got a new fitting , teflon tape the threads and reinstall , if using old fitting , knock out the check ball , the flex line on the new line has the check ball . reinstall the adaptor . get the line in place but don't connect to trans yet , connect the flex line to the heat exchanger first , i did it the other way and it took about 20 minutes and alot of cussing before i got it right , its not a straight shot and can be a pain . oh make sure the flexline is already connected to the hardline , now connect the trans end , tighten both ends , do whatever else you were doing and refill system , should take about 13 qts . CHECK FOR LEAKS
