Hey Guys,

I installed a new FASS pump in my truck this past weekend. I got the 150gph pump only. After the install, it seems like my truck has a lot more oompf at very low rpms. For example, when I take off from a stop light at 750 - 1050 rpm, it seems to get out of the lug much more quickly. I have the EZ on level 3 and TST on 5/6 with the stock turbo -- that didn't change. The only other constant that changed was the air temp dropped over the weekend.

With the stock pump, I never saw it drop under the normal 7psi at those RPMs. So, is the "pep-i-ness" that I'm seeing from the FASS, the air temp, or just in my head? :)

Thanks!

... Probably that same notorious "seat-of-the-pants meter" that makes the truck seem to run better after a good wash and wax, too... ;) :D

Hard to beat the stimulation to the imagination provided by $$$ spent on a new non-performance toy!

IF you had decent operation of your fuel system BEFORE the FASS, it's not very likely adding it is providing any real, measurable power increases.

NOW, on the other hand, if a FASS user has reliable dyno documentation... :D :D :D

My SOTP meter does definately register better performance after wash and wax, mileage usually goes up at least 1mpg.

YUP - and even BETTER on WHITE trucks like mine - I think it has to do with the reflection of light... :D

I've been researching the FASS and they do state improved throttle response. I'm glad to hear the positive feedback.

Did you go with the pump only or the entire system?

I hesitate to attribute any improvement in driveability to the FASS, except in the case where it replaced a failing stock system. In that case, then, you're not getting better performance, per se, you're just returning to the correct performance.

I don't have a FASS, so this is purely speculation on my part. Take it with a grain of salt.

I went with the pump only for a couple of reasons. I'm not convinced that you need to remove the air unless you're after that last horse. Second, the filter assembly hangs down, and I am one of those people that has scrapes down the frame from front to back under the truck -- I'm sure I would break it. Third, the truck has a filter that does a good job for *most* people, other than the few that write about clogged injectors, right?

Anyhow, that's the way I see it.

Regarding the throttle response -- on the very low end, it's normally painfully slugish in comparison to when the boxes start fueling. Today, I wasn't really paying attention to the fact that I had a new pump or anything of the sort. I was in conversation with others thinking about work. When I noticed it, it kind of took me by surprise.

When I installed the pump, I didn't expect to see any improvement at all until the new turbo and maybe turning the TST up another notch -- except maybe where my factory pump was dropping to zero PSI at higher rpm's. Dunno, however, I don't have a dyno! :D

I noticed better throttle response from my fass unit even with all the mods in the off position.

Its not just snake oil or the wash and wax condition.

I also noticed that my MPG overhead indicator acts differently with the FASS. With the EZ and TST, it is consistently 3-5mpg over what I am actually getting, regardless of the driving habits on any given tank. With the FASS, when I get on it hard, it goes WAY down -- must faster than without the FASS. I know it isn't actually using that much more fuel, but I guess the computer thinks it is. I haven't had a hand calc tank since the install.

I'll be going to Lawrence, KS Friday for an SPS66 install, so I'll check it then.
