Well I finally got my gauges installed today. Auto Meter Ultra-Lites on the A-pillar. My question is I thought I remembered hearing that you should have about 5psi of boost at cruise? Now maybe I'm thinking of a modified truck, but I can't remember.

At 60 holding steady I believe I had 2psi, if that?

Now if accelerating yeah shoot had anywhere from 0-10psi boost.

But once back off the pedal (cruising, holding steady) it seemd like I had none and the gauge was back on 0.

Now I'm still new to this so I realize this is a newbie question, but I'm just wanting to make sure everything is working right.

While trying out my new gauges on some open road tonight I managed about 24psi MAX. It would barely reach that then come back down to 20psi. My EGT's never got above 800 though. I'm thinking this is pretty normal for a stock 12 Valve. Just wanting a little reassurance I guess.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. I ment to have the guy put that little green cover on my light, but forgot to mention it. Well guess what picked up the truck and no box or baggies or anything. Anybody have 2 of those little green covers where I could match my gauges to my dash? How hard would it be to switch that out? I personally wouldn't do it myself, but just wondering how big of a issue it is? I have great night time visability right now, but would love to have the light match my dash.

Thanks,

Mark

The 4-5 psi range is in line with what I experience at 55-60 mph with level roads and calm head winds. I can also get reduced boost readings if the road has an ever so slight decline or a tail wind.

I was getting 19-20 max boost when my engine was a stock 180 hp. You will have a better boost picture when some of the 215 hp/5 speed members reply. Holding steady max boost requires engine loading. This is why you get little boost when standing still as compared to accelarating or pulling a load up a hill.

I just hooked up my boost gauge last night and I only see 3-4 psi at 55-60 mph. At 65 mph, with a slight uphill, I got up to 6 psi. But when I get on it, it shoots right up. What you don't want to see is low boost when you're towing something up a hill with a good load on the engine.

If you ask me that's nothing to be proud of, what are you getting about 4 miles per gallon?

Mark, your 2 psi at cruising speed is something to strive for if you are interested in fuel economy and shouldn't be considered a problem at all. The lower the better. My boost at cruise is about 3 psi.

Before TST upgrade I got 10-15psi at 70 mph, 22psi max, 12-13 mpg. 4. 10s ?? I guess :)

Just joined TDR love this site

20psi is when cruising up a grade... ... it stays at about 8-10psi at "my cruise speed" on the level ground.

4-5psi at 65mph on the flatland.....

Gee whiz, I guess I'll have to deal with 21mpg... cruising at 75-80mph.
