My old 2002 had an extremely accurate overhead computer that looked at the average which I reset at every fillup as well as an INSTANT MPG. I used this instant mode to find the most economical speeds for towing empty and full as well as drafting rigs back as far as possible.

I can't find this INSTANT MODE on my 2007 5. 9. Is there a secret button sequence or is it just not there. If not I am sad because my 02 would do 20-24 on highway and at 30mpg would get about 30+ mpg running 35 mph.

My 2007 is very very thirsty and with fuel at 3. 25 a gallon I need to monitor economy.

Don't see this function in the manuals... any ideas?

... but you can accomplish the same thing my hitting the reset button for a new sample. Of course, you loose the MPG history when you do that, but it's just a calculation.

I really liked the real time mode ,don't know why they would eliminate something thta's in the computer anyways

Where are you getting diesel for 3. 25 a gallon? Around here its 3. 69 and rising.

Anyways, any one know if it is possable to add a second overhead display so that a guy can keep the main display set on average per tank or trip and the second you can reset to try to get an instant reading.

South Jersey 3. 25 yesterday. 3. 39in delaware to 369.

My old overhead was spot on. calculated on a per tank basis it was within . 1 mpg of calculator. I always reset it at fillup. it calculates the last 34 gallons per tech info. so at fillup it got reset and logged in. If that was so close i figgered that the instant was also good.

Is there a laptop scanner or something that let's us see this instant number?

obdIII etc. ?
