Chris, the first thought I had was is the gauge set for PSI? Other then that I would cross check the fuel pressure with a 30 lb air pressure gauge screwed into the top of the fuel filter housing (if it's a "99). You could also cross check the gauge by plugging it into the 1/8 fitting on the top of the oil filter bracket. This should show pressure similiar to your analog oil pressure gauge on the dash.

Don't be surprised if your lift pump is underperforming.

If you are confident the other gauge is defective then we need to have a replacement sent.

Hey Nowell, I am pretty sure the other gauge is defective because it won't even let me view the max boost or temp, I played with all the wires and connections and nothing seems to happen. I am not sure if the fuel pressure is set to PSI, I will have to check after work. Wouldn't be surprised if something was wrong with the pump after all the problems I have read about, so I guess I will have to try the air pressure gauge this weekend. If I get everyhting working these have the potential to be great gauges, and will enjoy having them in my truck.

chris--I know Brandon has had a problem with the wiring in the 90* connection which attaches to the sending units--have you taken them apart to make sure the wires are connected properly, if not you should----chris

Csutton7, I read some of the problems about the wires, and even applied electronic grease like some suggested, but I am not sure that they are the problem especially since I notice that the psi increases with temperature. Will check them though, you never know.

Just when I was planning to go with the SPAs I read this post #ad

Chris Henn, keep us posted on the outcome.

the spa's are the bomb, I can help anyone that wants help with install or guidance

my wife loves hers, click on my sig and go to the photo album and you can see some I have installed
B... ... ... ... .....

They do not have problems, they are great, just have to learn the ins and outs of the install since they are not specific for dodges, nor will they ever be, these gauges are for racing applications, check out all the cool stuff on the spa site, we are fortunate spa has tried so hard to please us diesel guys

Ron if you read this, you guys are the greatest, all of my spa customers say the gauge exceeds their expectaions, sooooo

thank you Ron

I'm new to the board, but have had my Ram for about two years now. I recently installed SPA gauges on my truck and I am not satisfied with them for a couple of reasons. First of all I found the wires to be way too short for the transmission and oil temp gauge, one of the gauges will not let me set anything, and the fuel pressure gauge may not be working properly. The biggest problem that I have is that my fuel pressure is reading 6 psi at idle and when I step on the gas it goes all the way down to 2, in really cold weather it reads 4 at idle and goes to 0 when I step on the gas. My question, is this a prolem with the gauge or the truck? I don't really feel a loss in power, but then again my fathers Ford PS will leave me way behind at a light. I hate the dealerships around here, so asking them is out of the question. Anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong? Thanks.
Chris

Brandon,

How do you take the 90* plug apart? I have been having troubles with my fuel pressure gauge, and the guy at SPA told me to take it apart and check the connections. I don't want to break the plug, and have been unable to get it apart as of yet.

Thanks in advance.

Craig, remove the nut on the back of the elbow and then gently push down on the retainer at the top of the elbow(you will see a plastic piece with a slot on it, I pushed on the outside edge of that retainer). This will allow you access to the three wires that connect to the female interface. The wires are held in place by 3 small screws. Before you remove them, draw yourself a diagram buy looking at the front of the interface(the part that plugs into the SPA coupler) . You will see numbers on that part, just write down which wire corresponds to the number beside it. Then remove the set screws and the wires will pull free. You can then pull the wire harness from the elbow. I think the problem that csutton7 was relating to is in the amount of exposed wire in relationship to the connection, you will know if all is okay once you have the elbow apart.

Thanks Scott. For some reason it wasn't obvious to me when I first looked at it. I will give it a try in the morning.

You are both welcome. Brandon, I think I'll leave any mods. up to you as your the pro, let me know if I missed something.
