My only experience has been the tweeters in the A-pillar. The premium sound system/receiver (in the 2001 trucks) AM/FM/CD is manufactured by Infinity according to the sound-tech at a local audio-file store. He let me know the speakers are very low quality. I had an original tweeter fail so I went to obtain replacements. I showed him the little tweeter that had a label showing the Infinity logo. He laughed... and remarked, "What a piece of junk"!

I purchased a matched pair that would fit into the factory nests within the A-pillars. ($100 bux for 2 each) WOW!... what a difference from the factory units!

I would say at this point that any up-grade in speaker quality from what Dodge places into these rigs will be a marked improvement.

Size-wise... I think any guy working in one of these audio-file mobile stores will guide you (they see these things all the time) to an exceptional replacement recommendation. Yes... we gotta spend money but, the small investment for quality speakers hooked up to our factory sound systems is an impressive improvement.

Someone help me out with this, but I remember reading somewhere on this forum that those of us with the Infinity system need speakers with a certain Ohm, or the system doesn't work right.

In mine the fronts were 6x9 and the rear was I think 5-1/4". I love the sound of my speakers. Both pairs are Pioneers and all I need is the tweeters and it'll pull it all together. The 6x9s put out plenty of bass for me so no need to get a sub.

6x9 front 5 1/4 rear. If you have the Infinity system that has the speakers with seperate amps built onto them then you will need to replace the head unit also.

On my 2001. 5 I noticed on the front door that you'll have to watch out for speaker depth with aftermarket units. The window track sits close to where the magnet will be for the front speakers. Also the uphosltery panel removal tool I purchased actually dented the exposed sheet metal while prying the door panel off. Someone could recommend a better made tool I'm sure. The link below shows the factory speakers (non-premium infinity), door insides, and wiring.

Call Crutchfield they know what they are doing. Also you dont have to replace the head unit with an infinity system just take the amps from the old speakers and reuse them you just have to get the right ohm speakers. Again Crutchfield.com.
