I am considering changing out the front coil and rear leaf springs on my 2500 with 3500 springs. I am considering either buying 3500 springs from Dodge and changing them out, or taking my truck to a private shop and having heavier duty springs installed.

I'm hoping it would raise the truck a couple inches as well as be better for towing my trailer with a load in the bed.

Anybody have any opinions/advice on this?

if they fit, that is 3500 in a 2500, there should be someone who converted to Kore system that has their old ones, or an installer may have a set. Or more expensive option look at Kore leveling kit.

Jsmall1,

A 2 inch leveling kit for the front (steel, not plastic), www.jackit.com. Upgrade the shocks too. I perfer the Bilstien 5100's, these will make a noticeable difference when towing. Do you have the snow plow package on your truck? If you do, I believe you already have the 3500 springs. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

And for the rear, a set of airbags should do the trick, and be easier on the wallet and install. One of those RV dealers on I-75 should be able to hook you up with the air bags. Or, one of the 4x4 internet parts stores will have them. Also, go over to the RV/Towing section, I am sure there are many guys over there using them.

If I was towing, this would be my plan of attack. I would definatly go with the air bags instead of messing with the rear leafs. You will more then likely get the results you are looking for with a good set of bags. And you will have some adjustibility too, when you are not loaded.

Just my . 02

Just noticed you're in Dayton!! Me too!! You are now the only other TDR member I know of in Dayton. Please fill out your signature so I will know if I pass you on the street. There are a number of 3rd gen diesels in this area now, but none of them seem to be members here. Most recent addition to the local area is an Atlantic Blue regular cab that passes by my house almost daily.

Well, thanks for the info guys. I will probably will go with the air bags. I was just hoping that heavier duty springs would raise the truck a little. I want to put bigger tires when my stock ones need replaced. I'll probably only go to 285's but I like how Dodges look with the gap between the tire and wheel well and don't want to fill the wheel wells with bigger tires. Plus, I kinda wish I would have just ordered a 3500 instead of the 2500. I did not order the snow plow prep package with my truck either.
