Just pulled my head to have some work done to it :-laf and noticed that one of the six pistons has the #6052 stamped in it while the other five have #6051. Just curious why they would be different? Was this one replaced at some point?

138,000 miles on truck, no service history other that a VP replacement just prior to me purchasing the truck.

Pistons looked good, could see the injector spray pattern, just a little carbon build up on the head. I guess I need to run the methanol injection alittle more often. ;)

With the studs torqued to 120 ft-lbs, that head did not want to come off!

All the pistons in your engine are original. Cummins used to use graded pistons to ensure proper height to the cylinder head surface.

I hadn't thought about the height on the diesel. On gassers it is common to find different stampings to match the finished diameter of the cylinders.
