Question: Dana or American

Which rear end does the 4500, 5500 series have. A friend swears they have the American rear end like the 2500 & 3500 does and I told him that I thought it was a Dana, don't know what number. Who is right and where can I find something so I can print it out.

The 4500/5500 trucks do not have American Axle or the same axle assemblies as our 3500 C&Cs or the pickups. Bill Stockard sent me a link to the axle assembly used in the larger trucks a couple years ago but I have lost it. I think it is a Dana but am not sure. It is a larger more robust unit than in the 3500 trucks.

The axles are what really set this new Dodge apart from the 3500 models. The front axle is built by Magna and has a 10 13/16-inch ring gear, while the rear axle is a gargantuan Dana S111 with an 11 7/8-inch ring gear. Gear ratios are 4. 10, 4. 44, or 4. 88 depending on model and transmission choice

For some reason, I seem to think on the 4500 rear axle I read Dana 110 and the 5500 used the Dana 130?
