I am about to get the T10 19. 5 alloy wheels from MKW for my Dually. I have the low-gear-OD G56, so I'd like to get a taller tire than stock. I'm going to the 19. 5's because I"m currently over-loading my stock load range E tires, and need the extra safety from the Load Range F or G tires. If I could also get a taller tire and lower my cruise RPMs too, well, that would be a bonus.

My question is, how tall/big is too much? I think the 225s are too short. I'm considering the Hankook 245/70R/19. 5 that are 33. 4 tall, or maybe even the 265/70R/19. 5s (34. 5 tall). My question is, since my truck is a dually, I need to make sure that there is enough space between the duals to prevent any touching or rubbing.

What are you guys running on your 19. 5 duallys? Also, how many of you have the new MKWs?

Your limited to 2 factors... . the width of the rim and the offset...

I run 225's because they are just slightly larger than the stock 17" and I found a vendor to make steel wheels for my trucks...

If the rim width is wrong based on the tire data you will have tire wear problems... . if the offset is wrong and the tires touch when they bulge than they will overheat and fail...

I've mentioned before we like the 225's for 2 reasons... you can purchase them anywhere, and we can purchase the same recap for the rear that UPS uses for their trucks... . they (UPS) is a very picky vendor... and the recap supplier here does a very good job... New tires only on the steer axle... .

I'm looking for low cost per mile, and safety... . we have done that with the 19. 5"... ... .

You can go to any tire manufacturer web sight and get the suggest rim width and offset for proper fit... . what I found was that the wheels available wouldn't let me mount 265's...

Hope this helps...

I have 07 megacab dually with eagle 19. 5's. i am running 265/70/19. 5 with no rubbing and a 3/4 inch space between the duals. turning is fine also. i have 3. 73 with a auto it turns a hair over 2k rpms@80 and about 1600@65 the ride is rougher. fuel mileage is about 15. 5@65-70 with smarty on #9 and a easy foot i dont think they made a difference on fuel mileage.

I have the Rickson steel 19. 5" x 6. 75" rims. My first set of tires (Mich XDE) went 132K before wearing out. Those were 245's. I lowered my RPM, but mileage did not go up at all. If anything, I lost some.

I'm currently running Sumitomo 918's in a 225 size. Wear seems to be at least as good as the Mich's. Tread pattern is very similar. Cost is about $100/tire less.

There were no clearance issues with the 245's. I went to a 225 because I gained nothing with the 245's and the 225's are a little cheaper.

IIRC I ran the Mich 245's at 70-75 psi when I first got them and by the end I was up to around 95psi. They are rated up to 125psi. By doing that I got pretty even wear. Never seemed to get any better mileage with the higher air.

I run the 225's at about 90psi. They are rated to 95.

I run khumo 245's. No rubbing issues, I got the 245's because some said the higher sidewalls gave a better ride then the 225's. Don't know if its true but I'm happy/satisfied with them.

I am running American Force Wheels with Michelin Tires on my 2002 Dually. I had them siped. Amazing traction in wet weather and snow without 4x4. Tires look like they will go about 100,000+ miles.

Thanks everyone. It looks like I'll go with the 245s. I like the extra height over the 225s, and their essentially the same price here at my supplier.

When I get the MKWs on, I'll post pics.
