Power upgrades for ISC?

I just ordered a new McKenzie Starwood thats going to be built in Elkhart Indiana.

Apparently they flat tow the dam thing all new and shinny from the factory 2000 miles to where I ordered it in Colton Ca, I wouldn't mind except it's going to be the middle of winter.

I got hold of the main guy at their dispatch, and was told they use a fleet of over 750 independent drivers that deliver nation wide using one ton trucks like many of us.

It would be nice if I could find out who the driver was when it is delivered, and if they are a TDR member.

It should be ready for transport from Indiana sometime around the first couple of weeks in February.

It will be easy to spot I ordered it without graphics.

With over 750 drivers on hand, trust me, as soon as your unit is ready, it will hit the road. Who is it? Bennett or Horizon?

Thanks gentlemen

It is the model 30RLS, no graphics, and aluminum wheels.

As for the company thats going to haul it. It's Horizon.

Just keep an eye on the weather about the time its supposed to roll. With Horizons rates, I can't compete with those I'm afraid. :(

Haven't talked to Steve for quite a while (run into him at a Flying J usually), but it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to quit. Has had a rough couple of years, with some major and expensive breakdowns and all. :( Too bad.

I guess you could pay for it to be air freighted if you don't want it towed.

Air frieghted that sound cool but i would bet it aint so cool on the pocket book. Do you know of any air frieght companies I'd like to look that up and see what kind of rates they are in case I ever wanna ship my truck or a rear end or something somewhere. Heck I might even offer it as an option next time I sell something on ebay though nobody would consider it cuz it sounds so expensive. let me know the rates and tell me more

It's a shame how alot of these RV transporter companies make a killing off the efforts and losses of the folks doing the work. What is the rate now... $1. 02 a loaded mile? You can be sure that the transporter company is getting at least $1. 50 a mile. There goes the profit/wage of the driver! I have seen many a owner/operator go belly up because he wore out his truck just so he could buy fuel and make a profit for the transporter company. When this guy shows up with the unit you ordered..... pat him on the back and offer him an apple for a job well done!

Update

Got the word on the McKenzie today.

It's scheduled to be shipped on 2/13/07.

Any Horizon drivers out there????

Be sure to post pics once you get it... hooked up to your Ram of course! And Ragain... an apple, surely you meant decent dinner, didn't you. Heck I just got 2 awesome lunches in 4 days after delivering (4) 20' containers to Taos NM... after my $4. 41 a mile rate! ;)

Their charging me 1,800. 00 for shipping and freight. Your right I would think you would get a killer meal (at least).

Does Horizon get most of that 18 honey??.

Sorry..... I was just being ornery about the apple thing!

But I was wondering if your unit ship date was confirmed yet? Today (2-6-07) I noticed a 5th wheel camper westbound on I-80 in Nebraska with no graphics and had aluminum wheels. I don't know much about the brands nowadays, but it looked to be around a 27 foot model. If it was yours... ... maybe you'll have it in Colton on thursday/friday!
