Why do you have a hose going around your pusher pump, what does it do?

Can I use just a pusher pump and eliminate the lift pump all together?

As to simply using a single pusher of proper specifications, like a Carter 4601 (16 PSI), you hafta go with your gut feeling - twice I have had small issues temporarily affect the operation of my stock LP - and the "spare" pump - the pusher - took over and saved my hide AND quite possibly the VP-44! Both times the stock LP was just fine, but had stopped pumping properly just the same, while the Carter 4600 pusher continued to function until proper LP operation was restored.

I would no more operate with a SINGLE fuel pump than I would go on a long trip without a spare tire - the extra pump isn't all that expensive to buy or install, and is cheap insurance in a fuel system with KNOWN weaknesses - and no, *I* personally don't trust the single-pump aftermarket units like the FASS, RASP and others any more than I do the OEM setup! ;)
